Are you too drunk to drive?

Anyone who has ever consumed an alcoholic beverage has probably asked him or herself this important question, “Am I too drunk to drive?”

With your safety in mind, if you have to ask this question, it’s probably better that you don’t get behind the wheel. This is the only surefire way to avoid an accident and/or DUI arrest.

There are several ways to determine if you’re too drunk to drive, such as:

  • Calculating your number of drinks: If you’ve consumed more than one drink per hour, it’s safe to say that you’re too drunk to drive. Furthermore, if you can’t remember how much you’ve consumed, it’s probably because you’re intoxicated.
  • Use an app: There are several apps that help you estimate your blood alcohol concentration (BAC). Estimates are based on information such as your weight, type of drink and time in which they were consumed.
  • Use a Breathalyzer: These devices aren’t just for police officers. You can buy a portable Breathalyzer to take with you anytime you’re drinking alcohol. This allows you to get an accurate reading before you decide to drive.

Even if you test your sobriety and feel that you’re in good condition to drive, you could still find yourself in trouble with the law.

If you’re pulled over by law enforcement, cooperate with the officer, but don’t say anything that could incriminate you.

A DUI arrest is scary, but it doesn’t necessarily have to result in a conviction. There are multiple DUI defense strategies you can consider, all of which can help you avoid a conviction and the punishments that come along with it.
